When the reconstruction of the Center for Contemporary Arts is over, it's high time to take stock of the past 52 days of its work.
The activity to renovate the new institution for Uzbekistan launched on April 12, 2019. During this time, the Centre held 15 lectures and panel discussions, which were attended by representatives of the world art community. Famous directors, curators, museum figures, architects, heads of cultural institutions from France, Italy, Germany, Great Britain, Norway, Singapore, the USA, Russia, and Uzbekistan addressed the audience.
The public program of the Center was developed in partnership with the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art in Moscow. The screenings of the Garage Screen Film Festival and films directed by Ali Khamraev aroused great interest among visitors. In total, 20 film showings were held in the cinema hall of the Center.
Young art lovers also did not stay away. The Center organized more than 25 master classes on contemporary arts especially for children, parents, and students of specialized boarding schools.
The Center has become a comfortable platform for various large-scale events of various subjects:
- Exhibition of Saodat Ismailova «Qo'rg'on chiroq»;
- Press conference with the participation of local and foreign media;
- Jazz concert;
- Three quests: "Lost Letters" (18+), "Battle of the Elements" (18+) and a family quest for children;
- A series of children's events dedicated to the International Children's Defense Day.
Both local media channels and foreign publications, including The Economist, calvertjournal.com, artsy.net, theartnewspaper, artguide.ru, artforum.com and many others wrote about the Center and its activities.
During the entire period of construction, the Center for Contemporary Arts was visited by more than 2,000 guests.
We remind you that the Center will continue carrying out activities outside of its building, while large-scale work on the reconstruction of the building is being carried out.
