Pianist Denis Matsuev performs for the first time in Tashkent

On December 9, the Palace of International Forums "Uzbekistan" hosted a concert by the world-famous pianist Denis Matsuev. The virtuoso, who combines innovation and tradition in the Russian piano school in his work, presented in Tashkent a new program of his favorite works by classical composers of Russia and Europe: Igor Stravinsky, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, and Franz Liszt.

Immediately after the concert held in the Palace of International Forums “Uzbekistan", the musician met with students of the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan named after R. M. Glier and the specialized Music Lyceum named after V. Uspensky. During the meeting, the Russian pianist gave a parting speech to young musicians and as a master class showed several performing techniques that will be useful to them.

Denis Matsuev has the following accolades: People’s Artist of Russia, Honorary Professor of Moscow State University, Chairman of the Council for Culture under the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, and a member of the Council for Culture and Art under the President of the Russian Federation. The musician is a recipient of many international awards, including the prestigious Dmitry Shostakovich prize.

A special responsibility of the musician is his work in the interregional charity "New Names" named after I. N. Voronova, and he is an alumnus and currently the President of this institution. Over its more than twenty-year history, the Foundation has raised several generations of artists and, under the leadership of Denis Matsuev, continues to expand its educational activities in the field of supporting talented children.

The concert is organized by the Foundation for the Development of Culture and Art under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Some of the tickets were distributed free of charge to employees of cultural institutions in Tashkent and students of music schools.
