The Art & Culture Development Foundation under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan has published the draft bill ‘On Patronage and Cultural Sponsorship’ for public discussion.
The draft bill was developed in accordance with the procedure of Article 8 of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan: ‘On the procedure for the preparation of draft bills and their submission to the legislative chamber of the Senate of the Republic of Uzbekistan,’ No. ZRU-60 issued on 11 October 2006.
The purpose of the draft law is to regulate relations in the field of patronage and cultural sponsorship. The draft law determines the legal status of subjects of patronage activities, the procedure and principles for the implementation of patronage activities, and cultural sponsorship.
The project provides financial and other types of incentives for patronage and cultural sponsorship. The adoption of the new law will allow formalising and rewarding market participants who want to become socially responsible.
In addition, the draft bill provides for a reporting mechanism for the recipients of patronage support, which will allow patrons to be sure that their funds are spent for their intended purpose.
Art & Culture Development Foundation under The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan was established in October 2017 with the purpose of providing state support, ensuring further development of national culture and arts in Uzbekistan, and expanding international and intergovernmental cultural links.
