Between 3 and 6 May 2018 the International Folk Music and Dance Festival and Competition LES ETOILES DE PARIS 2018 was held in Paris (France).
The festival was organised by the European Association of Folklore Festivals and the International Association of Folklore Festivals. The main goal of the festival is to find new talented performers, demonstrate their skills and traditions to the public, create a friendly atmosphere, enrich the multinational culture by showing respect for the traditions of peoples around the world, popularise the creativity of children and youth, and improve the professional skills and qualifications of teachers and art directors.
The festival was attended by representatives of more than 70 countries from all over the world. Assisted by the Art & Culture Development Foundation under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the song and dance ensemble Shosh Navolari took part in the Folk Music and Dance Festival and Competition LES ETOILES DE PARIS 2018.
The performers of the ensemble Khamroz Dehkonov, Dilshod Yunusov, Shahboz Asrorov and Zabilillo Tulkinov presented Uzbek folk songs including Hay-yor-yor, Kiz bola, Kurulay and Lola Gulim which won them first place in the festival. Young talents from Uzbekistan were recognised as the best folk singers and awarded with diplomas, UNESCO medals and valuable prizes.
A band from Turkey also tied for first place. Two ensembles, from Russia and Ukraine, both came in second, while the third place was occupied by singers from Belgium, Malaysia, Spain, Greece, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and African countries. The participants of the festival were awarded with diplomas, festival medals and trophy cups.
The winners of the festival took part in the Gala concert, which was organised following the festival. According to the festival’s official website, the Gala concert will be broadcasted on the TV channel Euro Folk and Radio Euro Folk.
