Jazz music concerts in Tashkent

Reading time: 3 min.

For three days, in three locations in Tashkent, jazz music concerts were held with thunderous applause with the participation of the David Braid trio (Canada) and the Jazzirama quartet (Uzbekistan).

From October 23 to October 25 in the concert halls of the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan, Academic Lyceum named after V. Uspensky, as well as in the open area of the State Museum of Applied Arts of Uzbekistan, jazz concerts were held with the participation of David Braid, a famous jazz pianist from Canada. According to critics, in his work David Braid masterly combines the basic principles of European classical music and the spontaneity of American jazz. Last year, the musician was already in Uzbekistan and made a promise that he would return here again. At the venues in Tashkent, he performed with his colleagues: Johnny Aman - bass (Finland) and Anders Mogensen - drums (Denmark), as well as with the already beloved quartet "Jazzirama" (Uzbekistan). Together, they performed works connecting the musical heritage of Uzbekistan with modern jazz music.

Particularly noteworthy are the master classes that the musicians conducted for students of three musical institutions: the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan, the Academic Lyceum named after V. Uspensky, and Republican Specialized Musical Academic Lyceum named after R. M. Glier. The musicians shared secrets and melodies on their instruments, and also invited students to the stage to “test” the skills of owning the instrument with them.

Access to all concerts and master classes was free.

The concert was organized by the Art and Culture Development Foundation under the Ministry of Culture, together with the Jazzirama Quartet and David Braid.
